Violet Isle & The Suffering of Light by Alex Webb

May 17th, 2011

Alex Webb is the kind of photographer who makes me want to grab my camera and go into the street to take pictures. This happens each time I look at his pictures either on the Internet or in one of his photo books.
Violet Isle is a great book gathering pictures taken in Cuba in the last decade between 2000 and 2008 even if some of Alex Webb’s photographs taken in 1993 also made it into the book.
The book mostly show Alex’s exploration of the streets of Cuba and some photographs of Rebecca Norris Webb discovering mysterious animals.
If you haven’t had the chance to look at his work yet, it is currently on Magnum in Motion Here.

The Time Lightbox also features some of his work following his new book The suffering of light (that I should buy very soon) gathering 30 years of Alex Webb work. A must in your photo book collection.
