Postcard from London, England

April 25, 2013

I recently visited the City of London again. Its financial area really attracts me. It is a world apart from the rest of the United Kingdom and probably the rest of Europe. I found it a difficult place to photograph. Well, there are plenty of opportunities but you need to walk and obs

In spring, we should normally expect some sun and higher temperatures, but it is freezing Winter weather that has welcomed me to Brighton. Cold wind, rain and white sky. The promenade is empty and hence its pier too. The only light comes from the amusement arcades and the fair. Nothin

The photograph above was taken in Edinburgh in 2009. Arthur’s seat is a hill in Holyrood Park, situated on the edge of the old town of Edinburgh. The 360° view from it is wonderful on a clear day. On this day, I still remember looking through the windows of my flat wondering if

Although I had travelled to and visited England many times in recent years, it was only in 2011 when I moved from Edinburgh to Bristol that I really started to discover the country. The series, through my camera lens, helps me to investigate British culture and its environment, and hi

Bristol is a vibrant, multicultural city situated by the River Avon in the South West of England. Like some post industrial English cities, Bristol city centre went through a lot of regeneration in the last few decades. Traditional high streets now compete with new shopping areas incl

A bus driver is wearing what looks like fancy dress to me. Probably because it is Christmas time. Unless he was running late for work and left his home without taking the time to get dressed.

The workshop Street photography is all about capturing street life and culture in an urban environment. It is in some ways very close to documentary photography. I personally believe that street photography, like a historical book, allows us to understand and visually look back at how

About

Expressing myself between documentary and street photography, my work focus on long term projects because of the human aspect, but also to have better insight and understanding of a situation over time. Photography is a medium that allows me to explore the cultural and sociological aspects of life in order to understand the relationship between the people, their traditions/habits/cultures and their environment. In recent years I have worked on separate long term projects about the Medinas of Morocco and more recently the Yamuna river in India.
