Edinburgh Documentary Wedding Photography – Honi & Ned

by Jerome Lorieau

An Australian couple in Edinburgh

Earlier in 2011, I received a request from an Australian couple, Honi & Ned, coming to Edinburgh to get married. A the time, I didn’t have this website. Ned found me on Google after searching for “edinburgh photographers documentary”. I was asked to take photographs for a very informal wedding of seven people altogether including the bride and the groom. Seven people was certainly challenging, in term of opportunity, discretion and not being too intrusive. On the day, I surprised myself by shooting as if there were hundreds of people at the event. In the end, it was certainly a great informal wedding with some lovely and funny people. I really enjoyed it and I was so glad that the weather was so sunny. What luck after travelling all the way from Australia to Scotland!

About

Expressing myself between documentary and street photography, my work focus on long term projects because of the human aspect, but also to have better insight and understanding of a situation over time. Photography is a medium that allows me to explore the cultural and sociological aspects of life in order to understand the relationship between the people, their traditions/habits/cultures and their environment. In recent years I have worked on separate long term projects about the Medinas of Morocco and more recently the Yamuna river in India.
